Here’s something a little out of the usual for you. A YouTube video about a dramatic hamster… turned into a music lesson?
Hey, ya gotta have a little fun sometimes, ya know?
So I came across this bizzare short video (it is embedded at the end of the post) on Youtube called “Dramatic Hamster” and basically this animated hamster just turns around and looks at you.
Strangely enough, it is hilarious. (Well, I thought so anyway!)
It’s only six seconds, and yet it has tens of millions of views. 35 MILLION as of when I saw it.
You know why?
It’s not because of the animated hamster…
It’s because of the music!
The addition of the dramatic music created the winning combination that people clearly love.
So let me ask you this:
What “drama” can you add to your guitar playing?
What emotion can be mixed in? How can you play the same notes differently to convey a unique feel?
Thinking about these kinds of things when you’re playing can really open up new ideas, and stretch you further as a player.
There aren’t any hamsters at this link, but you WILL find a solid lesson on guitar scales and how you can use them to master your fretboard. I encourage you to check it out.
Knowing the notes to play has to come before you can add drama and flair…
And now, for a little flair, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you…
