Welcome to the PlayGuitar.com Guitar Teacher Directory ("the Directory"), located at playguitar.com/teachers/. The Directory is owned and operated by Jonathan Boettcher, operating as PlayGuitar.com, a Canadian business based in Saskatchewan, Canada.

By using the Directory, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

What the Directory Is

The Directory is a listing of guitar teachers compiled from publicly available sources. We gather basic business information from Google Maps and enrich it with data from teachers' public websites. Our goal is to help guitar students find qualified teachers in their area.

How Teacher Listings Work

Where the Data Comes From

Teacher listings are created using publicly available business information, including:

  • Business names, addresses, and phone numbers from Google Maps
  • Website content gathered through automated web crawling
  • Google Maps reviews and ratings

If you're a teacher and your business information is publicly listed, it may appear in our Directory.

Claiming Your Listing

Teachers can claim their listing for free. Claiming allows you to:

  • Update your business information
  • Add photos and additional details
  • Receive a "Verified" badge on your listing

To claim a listing, you'll need to verify that you are the owner or authorized representative of the business.

Featured Listings

Teachers can upgrade to a Featured Listing for increased visibility. Featured Listings are available at:

  • Monthly: $9/month
  • Annual: $100/year

All prices are in US dollars unless otherwise stated.

Payments and Billing

All payments are processed through Stripe. When you subscribe to a Featured Listing:

  • Your subscription is billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on your chosen plan)
  • You can cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal
  • Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period
  • We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods

No Endorsement or Guarantee

PlayGuitar.com does not endorse, recommend, or guarantee any teacher listed in the Directory. A listing in our Directory — including a Featured Listing or Verified badge — does not mean we've vetted or approved that teacher.

If you're looking for a guitar teacher, please do your own research. We encourage you to:

  • Read reviews from multiple sources
  • Ask for references
  • Try an introductory lesson before committing
  • Verify credentials and qualifications independently

Listing Removal and Modifications

We reserve the right to remove, modify, or update any listing at our discretion, for any reason. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Listings that contain inaccurate information
  • Listings for businesses that appear to no longer be operating
  • Listings that violate these Terms

Teachers: You can request removal of your listing at any time by contacting us at jonathan@playguitar.com. We will process removal requests promptly.

Your Responsibilities

When using the Directory, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate information if you submit a claim or listing update
  • Not misrepresent your identity or affiliation with a business
  • Not use the Directory for any unlawful purpose
  • Not scrape, copy, or redistribute the Directory's content without permission

Intellectual Property

The Directory's design, layout, and original content are owned by PlayGuitar.com. Individual teacher business information remains the property of the respective businesses.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PlayGuitar.com and Jonathan Boettcher shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from:

  • Your use of or inability to use the Directory
  • Any transaction or relationship between you and any teacher listed in the Directory
  • Any inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete information in a listing
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data

Our total liability for any claim related to the Directory is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Directory is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that:

  • The Directory will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
  • Listing information will be accurate, complete, or current
  • Any particular teacher will meet your expectations or needs

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Directory after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Directory will be resolved in the courts of British Columbia, Canada.
