Saginaw Strings

About

Saginaw Strings is a music program located in Saginaw that helps children and youth from grades 2 to 12 learn to play instruments. Led by teachers registered with the Suzuki Association of the Americas, the program specializes in instruction for the violin, viola, cello, and bass. Every student is welcome to join regardless of their family’s financial situation, as the program strives to make music education accessible to everyone.

Lessons are designed for students at various experience levels, including those who are just starting out and those who already know how to read and play music. The instructors use a Suzuki-inspired program to teach their students and nurture their musical abilities. Classes take place at the First Presbyterian Church on Harrison Street in Saginaw.

Many students eventually advance from the program to audition for the Saginaw Bay Youth Orchestra. A total of 18 past students were part of that orchestra during the 2020 winter session. The program provides a clear path for young musicians to grow their skills and eventually perform in larger ensembles.
