About
ROC Star Academy was founded by Elvio Fernandes in 2009 with the goal of building confidence in kids through music. Before joining Daughtry, Elvio played in Rochester bands and invited kids on stage, which inspired him to start Camp ROC Star.
The success of Camp ROC Star and demand from students and parents led to the ROC Star Academy opening year-round in 2017. The academy, located at Piano Works in East Rochester, provides a performance hall, studios, and practice rooms. Professional musicians coach young artists and give them opportunities to perform.
At ROC Star Academy, students can get instruction in vocals, guitar, bass, piano, drums, saxophone, plus studio recording and music production. There are performance opportunities offered throughout the year for students to showcase their talents.
