JC Instrumental

About

Ben Rubin is the owner of JC Instrumental, located in Jersey City Heights. He has been teaching for 15 years, starting during grad school. Ben plays many instruments and performs in local bands, including Look of Love and Delta Vice. He also runs the JC Instrumental Open Mic for local musicians.

Ben views music as a whole skill. He thinks each instrument is just a way to share ideas. He mixes music theory, making things up on the spot, and writing songs into his teaching. Ben changes his teaching to fit what each student wants to learn.

Ben teaches piano, guitar, bass guitar, and ukulele. He also teaches music theory. He works with people of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to more advanced players.
