Jam Session Class

About

Jam Session Class, located in Vancouver, is a local organization dedicated to helping musicians improve their skills through education and community. Owner and bass player Kevin Fitzgearld developed these classes to help students feel more comfortable with improvisation, networking, and playing at open mic events. The organization is a trademarked entity in Washington State that provides support for various instruments including guitar, bass, keys, vocals, drums, harmonica, horns, and violin.

These workshops focus on group playing strategies to prepare students for performing with others. Beginners can learn simple song forms, chords, and the basics of improvisation. The Emerging Workshop helps musicians rediscover their groove, while the Advanced Techniques workshop explains the theory behind the music. Instructors Brandon Navia and John Roberts lead these sessions to help students elevate their musical abilities.

Registration is currently open for seasonal workshops held on Saturdays. Students can take part in six-week sessions that provide opportunities to develop, hone, and present their skills. Those who are unsure about which class is best for them can reach out to the team for placement advice. Gift cards are also available for those who want to support a fellow musician.
