Mathieu Carrière, founder of Fifth Avenue School of Music, brings a comprehensive musical background to his guitar instruction. His journey began early with piano at age six, culminating in a Bachelor of Music from McMaster University and a B.Ed from Brock University. This dual academic foundation underpins an eleven-year teaching career, during which he has guided over 200 students.

Carrière's pedagogical approach emphasizes individual learning styles, fostering musical independence across a broad spectrum of genres. He adeptly navigates classical, jazz, pop, folk, rock, and metal, accommodating both nascent beginners and advanced players. His versatility extends beyond teaching, as he actively performs as a piano accompanist and has contributed his talents as a multi-instrumentalist—pianist, guitarist, singer, and drummer—to various bands.
