How We Built This Directory
We created the PlayGuitar.com Teacher Directory because finding a good guitar teacher shouldn't be hard. There are thousands of talented guitar teachers out there — but they're scattered across Google Maps listings, personal websites, social media pages, and word-of-mouth recommendations. We wanted to bring them all into one place.
Where the Data Comes From
Every listing in this directory starts with publicly available information. Here's our process:
- Google Maps — We search for guitar teachers, guitar schools, and music lesson providers across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. Google Maps gives us the business name, address, phone number, website, hours, and customer reviews.
- Website Enrichment — For teachers with websites, we visit their site and look for additional details: what styles they teach, their experience and credentials, lesson formats, pricing (when listed), and a short bio. This helps us build a richer, more useful listing.
- Teacher Updates — When a teacher claims their listing, they can update any information, add photos, and fill in details we might have missed. Claimed listings get a verified badge so you know the teacher has reviewed their own profile.
What We Include (and What We Don't)
We focus specifically on guitar teachers — people and schools that offer guitar lessons. During our data collection, we filter out music stores that only sell instruments, bands, recording studios, and other music businesses that don't teach guitar.
If we've included a listing that shouldn't be here, or missed a teacher who should be listed, let us know.
How Reviews Work
The star ratings and review counts you see on listings come directly from Google Maps. We don't edit, filter, or modify these ratings in any way. They reflect what students and customers have posted on Google.
Featured Listings
Some teachers choose to upgrade to a Featured Listing, which gives them priority placement in search results and a larger profile card. Featured listings are clearly marked. A teacher's featured status has no effect on their reviews or ratings — it simply makes their listing more visible.
Featured listings help us keep this directory free for everyone. If you're a teacher interested in getting featured, learn more here.
Our Commitment to Accuracy
We do our best to keep listings accurate and up to date, but information changes. Teachers move, adjust their pricing, take on new students, or retire. If you spot something that's wrong, you can:
- Teachers: Claim your listing for free to update your own information anytime.
- Students: Contact us to report incorrect information.
